Trust.

It’s that simple. You want to get the meeting over with, get back to work, back to being productive. You’ve got to trust your team mates. If they say they’ve got the problem, keep your mouth shut until they ask for help. Expect the same from them. (By the way, learn to ask for help. It establishes trust).

Don’t try to problem solve in large groups. It’s a waste of your time and others. Use your meetings to identify problems and whose responsible for fixing them. There are a 1,000 ways to solve any one single problem. Chances are, more than one solution will work. Don’t keep everyone from doing the enjoyable part of work by debating details only a few care about.

Trust your teammates, it pays exponential dividends.

White House Petition to End Software Patents Is a Hit - Technology Review http://t.co/isxna2Ui

White House Petition to End Software Patents Is a Hit - Technology Review http://t.co/isxna2Ui

I’m taking a look at Crowd² for creating viral marketing campaigns. http://t.co/uqh1Qrdm via...

I’m taking a look at Crowd² for creating viral marketing campaigns. http://t.co/uqh1Qrdm via @crowdsquared

RT @scottadhoc: There are 2 types of people: those who, upon hearing “stop!” think...

RT @scottadhoc: There are 2 types of people: those who, upon hearing “stop!” think “hammer time”, and those who think “collaborate and l …

Overlay video with your ardunio.. I know you’re in love with the idea of “pushing” a mobile offer as soon as a consumer is close enough to your store. It sounds like a neat idea, once you get past all the privacy issues, coerced a consumer to opt in and solve the technical challenge of tracking the individual movements of every person’s GPS equipped mobile phone on the planet. But is it really? No consumer wants their phone blowing up with offers like their e-mail.

Thinking of location as a trigger, is the equivalent of marketing at gunpoint.

We consumers don’t want to be interrupted to hear about products we have no interest in. Walking by the Starbucks isn’t the time to send me an offer for a cup of coffee. I don’t need it. I know Starbucks is there, I can see the sign.

The time to match your offer with my location is when I’m new in town, jonesing for a cup of coffee. When I have an app like 4square, Yelp or Facebook Places up and I’m actively seeking a place to get my fix. That’s when your offer will have the most impact, when I want coffee and you’re only four blocks a way.

See LBS is more like a filter…

out of all the available offers I could show consumer X at this given time, based on consumer X’s current desires and location this offer will have the most meaning to him. After all who doesn’t want a discount on coffee when they’re in the mood for a cup of coffee?

This is a high bar for marketers, for sure, but it is obtainable. The technology exists. We just need to spend more time making our offers relevant and less time dreaming up ways of interrupting innocent lives.
